Wearable Technology—Rebecca

The latest and most fashionable wear is technology that is wearable like jewellery. It can fit both men and women. It is functional, personalised and fits the bill for merging fashion and technology into wearable designer-like aesthetics.

Ringlys are rings that connect to a smart phone. They can alert wearers to incoming calls via vibration and flashing lights. These are generally on the larger size because of the amount of technology housed in it. For example, it could be gold-plated brass bands with stones of your choosing. Wearable bracelets can do the same job. Bracelets are designed with a tapered, asymmetrical and narrow clasp. For extra reading see:

Ever been caught out with a low battery for your phone? Everpurse is a purse/handbag that doubles as a phone charger.

Ever been caught out with a low battery for your phone? Everpurse is a purse/handbag that doubles as a phone charger—not just a solution, but a stylish example of fashion and technology. There is even one in black for men. Everpurse has had media coverage from Good Morning America, The Huffington Post and TechCrunch.

Think about the Pebble smartwatch. The Pebble is a smartwatch that features a black and white e-paper display, has a magnetometer light sensors to measure strength and magnetization, and an accelerometer, a gauge that measures accurate acceleration so that it can be used to monitor fitness and related exercise activities. The Pebble is compatible with Android and iOS devices. You can use it for emails and incoming calls and announcements from social media statements. The Pebble vibrates to alert you to a text message. One of the best functions is that the Pebble can act as a remote control, a wireless infrared transmitter that operates a camera shutter remotely.

What about a wearable computer—no, not a PC or laptop worn on your head, but a Google Glass, a wearable computer that looks like a pair of spectacles with one of the lenses used as a screen. It is a hands-free smart phone device that has voice command support (Bluetooth and WiFi) and is compatible with mobile devices such as iphone and Android.

So, the world of fashion is changing. It is becoming usable, lightweight and fashionable.
